The Berry Amnesty Action Group was officially launched by Bede Carmody of Amnesty International Australia on 20 June 2014 at the Nowra Library.
Over 70 people were in attendance for the group’s World Refugee Day event, which event included two emotionally moving talks from refugees from Eritrea and Congo. They spoke of their harrowing journeys within their own countries and through other countries as refugees before being finally reaching Australia.
The East Nowra community choir – Verdant Voices – provided heart warming entertainment. Thanks also to the Nowra Library for great support, and to Slice of Life Australia of North Nowra for terrific catering.
